Tutorial 1

Gaps of Knowledge
Having to change material parameters is a very common thing in design. Ideas change and so do a million other things with it. Making an object glow is a great way to highlight an element or to add special effects to a design. My tutorial simplifies how to make an entity glow, cutting out the irreverent part and by giving a direct and clear procedure in how its done.

Degree of Difficulty
My tutorial is ideally for beginner - advanced Sandbox 2 users. They should know how to make their own level or be able to navigate through opening a pre-existing level. The users should be farmiliar with accessing object from a database/library and will find the material editor without any issues.

The Tutorial
This tutorial is my first ever tutorial, and was quite a a different experience. Making sure every step was presented correctly and clear so that all users would be able to adopt the techniques used in the video. The tutorial focuses on altering a material from what it originally is make that material glow. The extent of the glow can be modified through a multiplier property. The intensity of the glow is given by the in game players location in reference to the object that is emitting the glow. (The glow is activated as soon as the player gets close) By moving in closer to the Entity, it will start to glow. And when you move away from the Entity the Object will return to its Default materials.

Week THREE

Cool Info Graphics

http://www.coolinfographics.com/blog/2010/2/9/city-population-shift-maps.html

I found this InfoGraphic represent a large number on people in the one place at a certain time very well as the difference between day and night inhabitance in New York City for example can be easily seen. This i thought links directly with my Pachube feed but to a FAR large scale, instead of working with a 'Room' it could be adapted to a city.

This infoGraph opens the viewers eyes in how energy is thrown around, and also other possible energy's that could be used to power the lighting system that my Pachube feed represents.

Again this is a good example of how the data could be represented on a worldly scale.

FlowGraph Part 2

Week ONE

FlowGraph
I've Broken up the FlowGraph into 2 parts. The top part shows how the user gets the location of the subject entity, in my case being the Concrete Barrier.

The bottom part of the Flowgraph measures the in game players movement speed. The barrier(entity) will only be moved if the player's movement equals or exceeds the velocity of '10'. I've also added a HUD message to display the players current movement speed.

Video Clip
The Video demonstrated the relationship between the entity and player. The Players speed is displayed on the screen and only when the players speed exceeds 10 the entity will move.

Creating Space with Light

"The sense of space is created using light.
The number of people entering and leaving a room directly correlates to the floor area which is lit up. As more people enter the room the lit floor area increases. As more of the floor area lights up the concept of a larger space is created. "
